Google’s Pixel 11 series arrived in India in August with four phones, a new chip and a brochure full of AI: Tensor G6, Pro Zoom 120x, Camera Looks, Magic Capture, Pixelsnap, Gemini Nano. Here’s what each line means, and which Pixel (if any) is worth your money.
India prices: ₹10,000 more, model for model
| Model | Starts at | Higher tier |
|---|---|---|
| Pixel 11 | ₹89,999 (12GB/256GB) | ₹1,04,999 (512GB) |
| Pixel 11 Pro | ₹1,19,999 (12GB/256GB) | ₹1,34,999 (16GB/512GB) |
| Pixel 11 Pro XL | ₹1,34,999 (12GB/256GB) | ₹1,49,999 (16GB/512GB) |
| Pixel 11 Pro Fold | ₹1,86,999 (16GB/512GB) | none |
Prices are as reported at the India launch. Each phone costs ₹10,000 more than the equivalent Pixel 10. The Fold is ₹14,000 more, and India no longer gets a 256GB Fold. Google Store India, Flipkart and Croma were named as sellers, and Google’s Diwali sale runs until 8 November.
“Tensor G6”, decoded
Tensor is Google’s own phone chip. The G6 is made by TSMC on a 3nm process (not the 2nm some leaks promised). Google claims web browsing 25% faster, apps opening 15% faster and on-device AI up to 3.5 times faster than last year.
Reviewers found the CPU about 20% quicker, but the graphics barely moved: in gaming the G6 still trails Qualcomm’s and Apple’s best, and some testers saw it run hot in long sessions. Tensor is built for photos and AI, not top-end gaming. If you play heavy games, that matters.
The cameras, decoded
- Pixel 11: a bigger 48MP main sensor (Google says it collects 56% more light), a 13MP ultra-wide and a real 5x telephoto (10.8MP). Zoom goes up to 30x by combining frames (“Super Zoom”).
- Pixel 11 Pro / Pro XL: a new 50MP main sensor, a 48MP 5x periscope telephoto, a 48MP ultra-wide and a 42MP selfie camera, with 8K video.
“Pro Zoom 120x” needs decoding. Beyond the optical 5x, the phone uses on-device AI to redraw detail that the lens can’t actually see. Results can look impressively sharp, but they’re the AI’s best guess, not a faithful record. Use it for fun, not for evidence. Up to 5x, the Pixels give you true optical zoom.
Other camera features:
- Camera Looks: pick a colour style before shooting.
- Magic Capture: records a burst of video and picks the best still.
- Instant Night Sight (Pro only): night shots captured much faster, so less holding still.
- Video Boost: processes video on Google’s servers for better low light.
The AI, decoded
- Gemini Nano is the small version of Google’s AI that runs on the phone itself, offline, keeping data on the device.
- Proactive Assistance suggests actions from your messages (sharing flight details, say). Reviewers found it rarely useful so far.
- Google AI Pro, the paid plan, comes free for 6 months with the Pro, Pro XL and Fold in India, then it’s a subscription.
Battery, charging and “Pixelsnap”
- Pixel 11: 4,985 mAh, 30W wired.
- Pixel 11 Pro: 4,850 mAh, 30W.
- Pixel 11 Pro XL: 5,115 mAh, 45W, but only with a compatible 45W charger. Ordinary chargers can be much slower, and there’s none in the box.
- All four: Pixelsnap, Google’s built-in magnets, like Apple’s MagSafe, so magnetic chargers and stands snap on, with 25W wireless charging.
These are ordinary batteries by 2026 standards. Mid-range phones now pack 8,000–10,000mAh, as our silicon-carbon battery guide explains.
What got worse
- Less RAM on the Pros: both now start at 12GB, down from 16GB on the Pixel 10 Pro.
- Slightly smaller batteries on the Pro, Pro XL and Fold.
- The price, up ₹10,000 across the range.
Honest verdict
The Pixel 11 is still one of the best camera phones you can buy, with clean software and seven years of updates, roughly to 2033. But it’s an expensive, iterative year.
- On a Pixel 9 or older, or any phone you’ve used for 3–4 years: a worthwhile upgrade. The Pixel 11 at ₹89,999 is the sweet spot, real 5x telephoto included.
- On a Pixel 10: skip it.
- A heavy gamer: look elsewhere. Tensor isn’t built for that.
- Want the best Pixel camera: the 11 Pro (₹1,19,999) gets you the full camera kit in the smaller size. The Pro XL adds screen and battery.
Questions people ask
What is the Pixel 11's price in India?
As reported at launch: Pixel 11 ₹89,999 (12GB/256GB) and ₹1,04,999 (12GB/512GB); Pixel 11 Pro ₹1,19,999 (12GB/256GB) and ₹1,34,999 (16GB/512GB); Pixel 11 Pro XL ₹1,34,999 and ₹1,49,999; Pixel 11 Pro Fold ₹1,86,999 (16GB/512GB, Olive only in India). Each is ₹10,000 above the equivalent Pixel 10; the Fold is ₹14,000 more.
Where can I buy the Pixel 11 in India?
Google Store India, Flipkart and Croma were named at launch. Amazon listings exist but appear to come from third-party sellers, so check the seller and the warranty before buying there. Google's Diwali sale runs until 8 November.
Should I upgrade from the Pixel 10 to the Pixel 11?
Probably not. Reviewers found day-to-day speed much the same, and the Pro models actually start with less RAM (12GB, down from 16GB). From a Pixel 9 or older, the camera, chip and seven years of updates make it a worthwhile jump.
What's the difference between the Pixel 11 and the 11 Pro?
The Pro has a brighter LTPO screen that can drop to 1Hz to save battery, bigger camera sensors including a 48MP 5x telephoto, AI Pro Zoom up to 120x, Instant Night Sight, 8K video and the HiLight notification LEDs. The Pixel 11 has a 60–120Hz screen, a 10.8MP 5x telephoto and up to 30x zoom.
Does the Pixel 11 come with a charger?
No. The Pixel 11 Pro XL's fastest 45W charging also needs a compatible charger (Google sells one separately); ordinary chargers can be much slower. All four models support 25W magnetic wireless charging.
